Looking through Gage Hamilton‘s portfolio, you’ll find works that range from quirky to refined while always current in his street-inspired subjects. This can be said for many an illustrator and freelance artist of today, but what sets Hamilton apart is his knack for subtle detail within a seemingly straightforward design. Being skilled in many mediums from graphics and freehand illustration to digital renderings, screen prints and sculptures, this has allowed him to work with a solid roster of clients that include Nike, Converse, Red Bull and Ford Motor Co.
For our Pen & Paper edition, we see an example of Hamilton’s diligent detailing as he fills his pages with the permed coat of a Buffalo. The work is part of his “The Future Will Be Hairy” project with The Bonjour Studio that houses acrylic and digital print pieces, as well as an offering of the very pages you see above. In additional to studio work, branding and collaborations, Hamilton’s current endeavor has him taking part in a Portland-based public mural project titled “Forest for the Trees” that serves as an engaging insight into the realm of art-making.
