Tara Subkoff may have been used to seeing Chloe Sevigny behind the camera as creative director for her Imitation of Christ brand, yet now places her in front of it for a new short film: “Magic Hour.” Working with MOCAtv, the channel of LA’s premier contemporary art museum, Subkoff directed a narrative about the egotism and sexuality amongst LA’s residing transplants. The film finds Sevigny’s character having a quirky, dramatic conversation on the phone, which hits an unexpected climax toward the end. Rife with irony and subtle humor, this new film was created in celebration of MOCA opening its new 2013 Urs Fischer exhibition.
