From May 10, French street artist JR‘s mobile photobooth will be parked in Times Square, allowing passerby to leave their own mark under the Inside Out project. Having captured portraits of different demographics and races across the globe, JR brings his directional campaign to the heart of New York — a place packed with bustling adverts that played seminal influence to his ubiquitous art. Justly titled Inside Out New York City, the series is free and open to the public, offering New Yorkers a chance to “take back their own center” as JR suggests. Here, ANIMAL speak to the TED prize winner about his visions and the comparison of the project against advertising.
