Simon Davidson's Bonneville SpeedWeek Photographs

Awash in seemingly endless stretches of white sand and salt deposits, photographer Simon Davidson turns his trained lens on the activities and velocity-laden achievements accomplished during Bonneville SpeedWeek. The 64th annual event that took place over a five-mile course in Utah’s 36,650 acre dry salt lake saw over 512 entries that combined high-tech engineering with vintage automobiles – including custom belly tankers, hot rods, motorcycles and streamliners – all attempting to set land speed records and race at upwards of 400 mph. Images document the immense dedication and tenacity it takes to challenge the records on the storied grounds.
