The Ivory & Black Gallery in London’s Soho neighborhood is set to unveil “London 2012,” the new exhibition from artist SKULLPHONE. The artist ascended to fame back in 1999 with his iconic image of a skull holding a cell phone, and since has become a household name in the contemporary art world. For his newest endeavor he crafted a series of hand-painted works as well as a sculpture, all of which look back at Great Britain’s glorious, although sometimes dark past. While SKULLPHONE is often known for his outdoor installations, much of the work in the new exhibition is specifically created for indoor viewing. Highlights among the show are the digital media paintings, which employ a grid system and pointillism, and convey messages of the sometimes over-connected and over-technological modern world. The “London 2012” exhibition will be open from July 20 through August 24.
