Do Ho Suh’s Fallen Star sculpture at UCSD’s Jacobs School of Engineering, which opened today, has been seven years in the making and was supported by $1.3 million USD in private donations. Needless to say, the precariously perched house is breathtaking and assuming in appearance, and follows suit with Suh’s themes of the home and cultural displacement. The permanent sculpture was the 18th such to be built for UCSD’s Stuart Collection, and is fully complete with a front lawn, brick walkway, garden and lawn chairs.
