It’s highly unlikely that Danish carpenter Ole Kirk Christiansen ever imagined the little LEGO bricks he invented would eventually transcend their originally intended applications as a childhood toy and evolve into an art form of sorts in the right hands. In the latest episode of PBS’s ongoing series Off Book, we examine the culmination of LEGO’s evolution into art, by seeing three distinctly different examples of creative interpretation. Watch as featured artists Sean Kenney, Alex Kobbs and Nathan Sawaya show how they have used LEGO to create mosaics, stop motion videos, as well as a range of thought-provoking sculptures.
