Marlins Park, home to last week’s Opening Day of the 2012 Major League Baseball season and the new-look Miami Marlins, is the current host to an art installation from architecture team Snarkitecture. Dubbed “A Memorial Bowing,” an anagram of “Miami Orange Bowl,” which used to sit at the site of the new baseball stadium, the installation pays tribute to the former home of the Miami Hurricanes football team with enormous 10-foot orange-finished reinforced concrete letters inspired by the old “MIAMI ORANGE BOWL” sign. The Snarkitecture team, headed by Daniel Arsham and Alex Mustonen, scattered the letters about the east plaza of Marlins Park in positions meant to evoke the destruction of the previous tenant while paying homage to Little Havana’s new 37,442-seat stadium.
