Space Shuttle Endeavour's Transition into Retirement
With the end of the NASA space shuttle program, the remaining space shuttles have been divvied up

With the end of the NASA space shuttle program, the remaining space shuttles have been divvied up and sent to some of the premier museum in the country. The last shuttle to find a new home was the Space Shuttle Endeavour which just recently made its way to the California Science Center. A massive undertaking costing over $12 million USD, the move necessitated the trimming and felling of trees as well as the temporary removal of street lights, traffic signs, power poles and traffic lights. In spite of all the hassle, Los Angeles residents were treated to a stunning sight as the largest object to ever take LA’s streets, with a weight of 80 tons including the transporter, slowly inched its way to its final resting spot. A once-in-a-lifetime event, the Endeavour made for an arresting sight as it made its way through the city and its surrounding suburbs.
