Featuring a number of works never shown in Australia, renowned Japanese modern contemporary artist Yoyoi Kusama’s latest work is currently being shown in her “Look Now, See Forever” collection at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art. Always evolving, the collection exhibits new directions for Kusama, while still retaining the themes of pattern (like her signature dots), reflection and infinite space, that her influential work has become so well known for. At the center of the exhibition is an installation piece called the Obliteration Room, which began as a furnished space painted completely white. Over the course of the showing, children were able to participate directly in the work by being given colorful stickers with which to freely decorate the space, and share with Kusama her love of color, light and form. “Look Now, See Forever” is showing at the Queensland Gallery of Modern Art until March 11.
