Last month, Cooper Union seniors Lucien Smith and Jack Siegel made a huge splash when they opened the doors to their group exhibition entitled “Imagined Nostalgia.” Centered around the main theme of memory and how it can become distorted over time, the artists used personal items of their own as well as that of others to show just how deformed the past can become. Smith, 22, has already been making the rounds on the art circuit with an appearance in the lookbook for Supreme as well as inclusion in a Miami-based group show that also featured works by artists like McGee, Schmidt and KAWS. We suggest that you keep an eye on these two young artists as they just may be the next big things to rise out of New York’s downtown art scene.
