The Brooklyn-based artist Wes Lang who is known for his tattoo-styled paintings is hosting a one-night-only exhibition called “Sittin’ On A Rainbow” at the infamous Chateau Marmont in Hollywood. On June 23, room 34 will be filled with a painting collection whereof all works are inspired by American history and the contemplative effect of the hotel. Lang stayed in room 34 for one month and during that time he produced these pieces directly on the hotel’s stationary. The idea of the exhibition is inspired by Martin Kippenberger’s Hotel Drawings and the works reference Americans from Jim Morrison to Native Americans. We can expect in the style of Wes Lang exceptional paintings that contain numerous details from skeletons to naked women.
