Patrick Martinez is an artist that is most known for his ability to turn the unconventionally beautiful surroundings of our world into appealing works of art. In his newest exhibition, titled “Reel Tawlk,” Martinez focuses on the current state of America, in particular a redefinition of what exactly it means to be an American. His references include current events such as the “Occupy Movement” in one piece, and in another the everyday working man, all in giant plush blanket portraits. Martinez utilizes his strength in this exhibition by bringing the seldom spoken of, but truthful, topics to the forefront of our attention. “Reel Tawlk” opens Thursday, December 8 at 8:30 p.m.
