The OHWOW gallery is hosting Bert Rodriguez‘s first solo exhibition and performance, titled “A Meal I Make with My Mother,” on display from November 19 through December 3, 2011. “A Meal I Make with My Mother” began with a one-night only performance that involved the act of preparing, serving and consumption of a home-cooked, Cuban-style meal. The cooking and serving items utilized in this performance were then placed throughout the gallery as a sculptural installation and manifestation of the event. Previously performed at Frac Ile-de-France/Le Plateau in Paris, France, and at Lawrimore Projects in Seattle, Washington, this unfolding piece highlights the poignant beauty of familial bonds through the simple act of cooking and eating together.
