Art Basel madness has descended upon Hong Kong, bringing the international art world together to experience some of the most sought after works of art. Famous galleries from Hauser & Wirth, David Zwirner, Gagosian to Almine Riche, Nanzuka and Pearl Lam Galleries brought in major pieces for the Art Basel Hong Kong.

Kicking off Art Basel was an exhibit from Louis Vuitton. Bringing in Takashi Murakami to celebrate the second drop of his coveted collaboration with the French luxury house, team displayed archival pieces like a never-before-seen signature floral print rug from the artist as well as his own sculptures. A nod to local artworks, Kasing Lung‘s Labubu phase takes over Basel, with several of his paintings from his series of monsters appear both international and homegrown galleries. Almine Riche had three Picasso pieces, two of which were works on paper.

The usual suspects saw Daniel Arsham‘s rendition of the Mewtwo, in his signature crystalization technique become a popular piece, as did a grand Yayoi Kusama pumpkin, Tom Sachs prints and more. Gallery 1957 stands out with its continual selection that champions the African diaspora including the work of Rita Mawuena Benissan where she transforms history into textile alongside pieces from Gideon Appah, Amoako Boafo, Kelvin Haizel, Kaloki Nyamai, Otis Quaicoe, and Arthur Timothy. As for a gallery like NANZUKA, it brings global artist like Kenny Scharf, FriendsWithYou, Javier Calleja as well as a focus on Japanese ones including Hajime Sorayama, Keiichi Tanaami, Harumi Yamaguchi, Masato Mori and Hiroki Tsukuda.
