Pieter Ceizer, Paris Saint-Germain and Edifice Go from Paris to Tokyo (and Back Again)

With a new collection that offers up a PSG take on Ceizer’s signature ‘Woody’ sculptures plus special T-shirts.

Paris Saint-Germain may be a Parisian football club but it’s got a particularly avid global following, especially in Japan, where, over the last decade, it’s partnered with Edifice to open a line of special stores. Now, the two are celebrating a decade of partnership — with a little help from Amsterdam-born, Paris-based artist Pieter Ceizer — by opening a weekend-long “Paris Loves Japan” pop-up by PSG’s Parc Des Princes Stadium.

At the center of this pop-up is a new take on Ceizer’s famed Woody sculpture line and a duo of hand-drawn T-shirt designs. The hand-painted Woody sculptures are dressed in PSG’s familiar blue, red and white palette, feature the club’s crest, read “Paris” on one side and “Tokyo” on the other, and, in a fine bit of fan service add “Est Magique” in small text on both sides for a nod to one of PSG’s slogans. A finishing touch is provided by a small wood soccer ball sculpture, and each comes packaged in a custom wood box. The Woody is limited to a run of 12, and each is hand-signed and numbered on its feet.

T-shirts feature a duo of designs Ceizer first drew in pencil. The first of these boasts his Woody characters as footballers across small chest prints and large back prints, which read “Ici C’est Tokyo” and “Ici C’est Paris” (another PSG slogan), respectively. The second tee features a large chest print with characters and a “Paris Loves Japan” text hit for a direct nod to the aforementioned pop-up.

The entire collection is available now at the “Paris Loves Japan” pop-up store inside the permanent PSG Megastore at 14 Rue Claude Farrère, 75016 Paris. It will be open until June 23 from 11 AM to 7 PM local time. If you’re not in Paris, the collection is also available via PSG’s webstore.
