Peter Yee To Launch Solo Exhibition Exploring His Iconic Oakley Archive and Design Legacy

Created in partnership with SPIN.FASHION, to be shown at K11 MUSEA during Art Basel Hong Kong 2024.

Peter Yee, the creative mind behind the iconic Oakley logo and brand’s designs of the 90s and 2000s is set to launch his debut solo exhibition during Art Basel Hong Kong 2024, in collaboration with SPIN.FASHION. The exhibition, titled “RENAISSANCE 2.0 x Peter Yee,” explores his iconic Oakley archive and legacy through both physical and digital expressions.

This exhibition, following a successful run in Paris, promises a never-before-seen look into Yee’s 25 years at Oakley, featuring sketches, prototypes, rare eyewear and watches. Utilizing augmented reality (AR) and extended reality (XR) via the Apple Vision Pro, visitors will have the chance to dive deep into the Oakley design history, exploring the intersection of fashion, technology and culture.

One of the highlights is the “Over The Top” eyewear, symbolizing the synergy of design and athletic excellence at the Sydney Olympics 2000. The exhibition will also showcase 22 exclusive artifacts from Yee’s personal collection, offering visitors an immersive experience.

Additionally, in collaboration with Yee’s upcoming brand “XYE,” a limited series of T-shirts will be released as physical + digital (phygital) collectibles. These fashion pieces, manufactured in Los Angeles, will provide access to unique Apple Vision Pro experiences at the exhibition.

The spatial design by Swiss artist and architect Mark Balint is another exciting feature of the exhibition, turning the space into a phygital asset that will be accessible worldwide. This exhibition is aimed at celebrating Yee’s monumental contributions to design as well as setting an example of how culture and creativity can be experienced through technology.

For those unable to attend the in-person exhibition, which runs from March 29 to April 25, a virtual exhibition will be available via SPIN.FASHION’s official site.

“RENAISSANCE 2.0 x Peter Yee is a very special project — a rare opportunity to shine the light on a true cultural treasure with global resonance across generations,” Lor Albrighi, SPIN.FASHION’s Co-CEO and Founder, adding “We are deeply honored to have been selected for this pivotal role.”
