Claire Tabouret Reveals New Landscape Paintings at ICA Miami

The exhibition will be on view until October 29.

The Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami (ICA Miami) is presenting new work from French artist Claire Tabouret. Entitled Au Bois d’Amour, the show is mapped out across two galleries on the museum’s ground floor and will present Tabouret’s latest “Fluff” paintings, along with a series of monoprints and a unique tapestry made in collaboration with acclaimed rug maker, Odabashian.

Represented by Night Gallery, Tabouret has been a prolific force within the world of fine art over the past eight years, from solo exhibitions with Almine Rech and Perrotin, as well as a recent inclusion at the 2022 Venice Biennale. While she is chiefly known for portraiture and group scenes of pensive children, Tabouret returns to landscape through thick applications of acrylic paint on plush canvases, resulting in rich textural pieces that hark to the post-Impressionist’s Édouard Vuillard and Les Nabis.

“Drawing from these artists’ tendencies toward abstraction, Tabouret experiments with light, design, and materiality to create an intimate and contemplative domestic space, bringing to her works a twenty-first century sensitivity and perspective,” wrote a release by the museum.

Au Bois d’Amour will be on view at ICA Miami from May 5 until October 29. For those of you looking to attend opening weekend, Tabouret will speak with curator Alex Gartenfeld, along with Irma and Norman Braman as part of ICA Speaks on May 6. Purchase your tickets to the event here.
