Printed Matter Celebrates East Village's DIY History in Spring Zine Fair

Featuring over 40 exhibitors.

Printed Matter is teaming up with the artist collective, 8-Ball Community, to launch a Spring Zine Fair this coming weekend at New York City’s St. Marks Place. The installment will feature over 40 local exhibitors who will be presenting a wide range of publications. Included in the event are workshops, poetry readings, concerts, leaf pressings and more.

Highlighted items include fundraising editions by Ari Marcopoulos and Kim Gordon. Marcopoulos is selling a signed and numbered print on rice paper featuring one of his candid street photographs taken in NYC. Gordon’s work, entitled ‘The City is a Garden’ pays homage to the East Village and the creativity surrounding its community gardens.

“As we celebrate the East Village’s artistic past and present, we’re so excited to collaborate with local community gardens in acknowledgement of the grassroots reclamation of the Lower East Side’s unused space by gardeners, squatters, and artists,” said Printed Matter in a statement.

Check out both editions above and then head to Printed Matter’s website for more information.
