Highlighting emotion-charged photographs captured at nationwide Black Lives Matter demonstrations.

Arts organization and gallery, Compound, will launch an virtual group exhibition highlighting photography of Black Lives Matter demonstrations nationwide. Titled “The Art of Protest,” the online presentation will feature interactive experiences developed by creative agency dotdotdash.
dotdotdash has transformed the physical interiors of Compound Gallery’ South Bronx outpost into a WebGL-based 3D environment, inviting uses to explore the range of works on show. “‘The Art of Protest’ event will further highlight the other pandemic infecting the United States’ DNA: systemic racism and police brutality. This event will honor and celebrate the bravehearts at the forefront of justice, protesting across the nation,” as per a gallery statement.
Photographs by a total of seven Black and Latino artists will be featured in the presentation including a visual by Roc Nation’s Lenny S. and legendary music engineer, Young Guru. These emotion-charged images shed light on the ongoing protests sparked by the police killing of George Floyd in Minneapolis in May. Compound co-founder, Set Free Richardson, will be hosting live discussions with each of the artists about their personal experiences in capturing these visuals.
“The Art of Protest” will launch on Compound Gallery’s website starting July 17.
