Step Inside the Works of Vincent Van Gogh at the Indianapolis Museum of Art
An immersive exhibition showcasing about 3,000 moving images of the artist’s iconic paintings.

The Indianapolis Museum of Art at Newfields in Indianapolis will host a momentous immersive experience dedicated to the great Vincent Van Gogh in June 2021. The multi-sensory presentation, titled “The Lume,” was developed by Australian company Grande Experiences.
Visitors will encounter 150 state-of-the-art high-definition projectors that take up 30,000 square feet of space on the museum’s fourth floor. The projectors will transform two-dimensional paintings into three-dimensional projections that guests will get to walk through and around. Altogether, the museum seeks to display roughly 3,000 moving images of the artist’s iconic paintings such as Sunflowers and The Starry Night. Classical music will be played in the background as attendees make their way through the exhibition space.
“After five years of research into art consumer motivation and innovative digital exhibitions in Asia, Australia and Europe, we are thrilled to unveil ’The Lume’ Indianapolis at Newfields next year as a groundbreaking addition to what we have to offer,” said Dr. Charles L. Venable, The Melvin & Bren Simon Director and CEO at Newfields, in an official statement. “Welcoming diverse audiences is a major goal of Newfields, and we believe ’The Lume’ Indianapolis will attract infrequent art museum visitors because they will be able to fully immerse themselves in an artist’s work in less formal ways than in a traditional gallery.”
Tickets to the grand event aren’t yet available but will be prior to the launch in June 2021. Visit the museum’s official website right here to learn more about “The Lume.”
Elsewhere in art, Erik Foss will release limited edition snake sculptures called Everyday Is Halloween.
