Faith Ringgold's First International Solo Exhibition Opens at London's Serpentine Galleries

Showcasing over 50 of the artist’s works.

Artist and writer Faith Ringgold’s first-ever international solo exhibition has officially opened at London’s Serpentine Galleries. The installation will showcase over 50 of Ringgold’s works, which are known for reflecting topics related to African-American identity and gender inequality.

“Do the work. Do it…Maybe they’ll like it but you have to love it,” Ringgold said in an interview with Hans Ulrich Obrist, artistic director at Serpentine Galleries.

In conjunction with the exhibit, MATCHESFASHION.com also hosted an evening of music and decorated a special room at its #5CarlosPlace location to celebrate the artist and spotlight some of her pieces. The e-commerce platform will also be offering select limited-edition items from Ringgold on its website, including an illustrative Jazz Stories poster and a geometric quilted blanket.

The exhibition is on view now until September 8, 2019.

Earlier this year, Ringgold was honored during Black History Month with a special Alife and Brooklyn Museum poster collaboration.
