Watch a KAWS Companion Figure Get Constructed From a Peanut

It took more than 20 hours to make.

Painter of nuts, Steve Casino, recently released a how-it’s-made video of a KAWS Companion figure constructed of a peanut shell. Outlined in the video, the exquisitely made piece involves a four-step process that requires an incredible amount of skill and time. Casino begins by removing the nuts from the shell and sealing the shell with an archival urethane. The shells are then glued back together and molded clay is applied to create a form, the piece is baked to set and harden. The hardened piece is then painted and coated with a clear acrylic, this specific step apparently takes an upwards of 20 hours to get perfect.
