Chanel Announces New Artisan-Hosting Métiers d'art Location

Keeping the focus on craft.

A supporter of haute couture shows for decaces, Chanel has announced a new site dedicated to the artisans that craft its hand-made offerings.

The house’s annual Métiers d’art collections are well-regarded for their exquisite detailing and extraordinarily complex construction, with the 2013 offering reportedly running up costs in the neighborhood of $3 million USD, while the 2017 show featured none other than Pharrell Williams. Now, the pedigreed fashion label has announced a new location intended to house the artisan’s workspaces. The structure, designed by by Rudy Ricciotti, will feature a garden, natural lighting, and a unique concrete exoskeleton.

Construction is due to begin soon, with the bulding expected to be completed around 2020. Meanwhile, Chanel has spent the past month lavishing exclusives on retailer colette in the store’s twilight days, ranging from Pharrell-designed adidas NMDs to iPhone cases.
