See How Some of Today's Iconic Film Scenes Are Inspired by Famous Paintings
A side-by-side comparison of iconic art works and movie scenes.
A video series called “Film Meets Art” puts in perspective how some of today’s memorable movie scenes are actually borrowed from iconic paintings. In this case, art is literally inspiring art as we see some dead-on comparisons. The videos are currently in two parts — the second clip highlights how Lost in Translation borrows from John Kacere’s “Jutta,” Empire of the Sun gets inspiration from a Norman Rockwell painting, and Tarsem Singh’s The Cell has a scene that looks exactly like an Odd Nerdrum work.

Watch the video above and below, and let us know in the comments of other famous movie scenes you can think of that are inspired by art pieces.
