Check Out Tony South's "Apes Riders" Series

Tony South funnily combines his loves of animation and hot rod culture.

English graphic artist Tony South has long held an obsession with Stan Lee’s imaginative Marvel Comics. Later in life, South – also trained in painting –  found himself commissioned to custom paint a tuner car. Both dynamic styles of animation informed his work to this date. Here we find South presenting a recent selection of illustrations, which depict gorillas as the leaders of hot rod culture. Indeed, South’s attention to detail is impressive here, as the artist has created each of these pieces with acrylic and oil paints on canvas. These humorous animations retain a sense of irony while also exuding a nice toughness – head here to peruse the works and add one to your collection.
