Winners of the 2015 Earth & Sky Photo Contest Showcase the Beauty of Night
The sky at night is something to behold.

Regardless of the visual capabilities of the human eye, there are some scenes that can never be seen by the naked eye. This is more so the case for night photography, where long exposures turn the night sky into a canvas onto which stars and other celestial bodies can paint trails, drawing attention to the whole universe of wonders out there. The winners of the 2015 Earth & Sky Photo Contest have done such a task along this year’s theme of “The World at Night,” capturing the immense beauty of the night sky, with the winning photos taken everywhere from snow-covered Murmansk, Russia and fog-bound Mt. Rainier in Washington, to the primordial cratered landscape of Indonesia’s East Java, and the neon lights of Chongqing, China under a rising blood moon. Enjoy the awe-inspiring photos above, and check out all of the winning photos at the competition page.
