THROUGH THE LENS: Quang Le

With an interest in punk rock, skateboarding, and the Los Angeles art scene, it was only a matter of time before Quang Le offered his piece of mind to the creative landscape. Picking up a camera during his college years, Le’s unique style has since led him to shoot for fashion and lifestyle heavyweights such as RVCA, Vans, Nike and Stussy, while in the realm of music, Snoop Dogg, Steve Aoki, Gym Class Heroes, T-Pain and others on Atlantic Records have also been in the focal point of his work. Placing his subjects in a whimsical setting, Le is as much a photographer as he is an art director, narrating a vivid story with bizarre and wonderful details in each photo. While artists and commercial personalities are a dime a dozen in LA, Le doesn’t just settle for any gig. “I try really hard not to do anything I don’t really believe in, or work for people that don’t want to support the story I want to tell at that particular time,” says Le on his uncompromising aesthetics. For our latest THROUGH THE LENS, we see snippets of work from Le’s forthcoming exhibition “Wish You Where Here.” Infusing his commercial style with imaginative and humorous motifs, enjoy the preview to “Wish You Where Here,” taking place from January 25-March 2 at As Issued @ The Lab in Costa Mesa, California.

A picture is worth a thousand words — at least that’s how the old saying goes. Our latest feature THROUGH THE LENS aims to see the world through the lens of various creatives. Be it a professional photographer, a blogger, a creative director, or just a fashion designer who happens to have an affinity for taking pictures, each photo set offers a glimpse into the frame of those individuals who have captured a very unique moment in time. In place of textual interviews or written pieces, THROUGH THE LENS is a visual interpretation and platform for those who have a story to tell. A picture’s worth a thousand words? Enjoy the read.
