Jérôme de Noirmont recently spoke to Artinfo France about the current landscape for art galleries soon after shuttering his own eponymous space. News of the closing sent shock waves through the art world as the gallery was known for the successful representation of artists such as Jeff Koons and Keith Haring. Yet after studying the current growing trends of what he calls “mega-galleries,” as well as the political climate of gallery and art ownership in France, de Noirmont and his wife decided to close their commercial doors and focus on a yet to be determined path to “…put art back in the center of society, in the center of the city.”
