Stemmed from the rudimentary parallels between the two, Dave Rittinger has created the Color Pencil Tree proposal in Philadelphia which melds a contemporary design into the natural arboreal landscape. The initiative repurposes natural trees into art that is free to be enjoyed within the public sphere. Blending elements of metaphor and experimentation, the Color Pencil Tree is designed to make use of trees that were intended to be removed effectively giving them a new vitality and attraction.
