Kamea Hadar "White Dreams" Exhibition @ Loft in Space

A byproduct of Hawaii through and through, Kamea Hadar is a strong representation of the talent that exists on the small Pacific island. Perhaps known better for its lush scenery and sandy beaches, there exists a consummate art scene that has grown at an exponential rate thanks to the likes of events such as POW WOW and the efforts of Tiffany Tanaka and Jasper Wong at Loft in Space. Hadar’s recent “White Dreams” exhibition highlights some familiar themes of sex, love, death, and the human condition. A certain degree of surrealism accompanies his work in a very much understated form. Despite a strong multicultural background including Korean, Japanese and Israeli ancestry, above all else, his Hawaiian culture comes through with the usage of local Koa wood. Manifesting itself with a unique 20-foot-tall centerpiece, the sculpture is an important part of the exhibition’s overall theme. The exhibition is currently on display at Loft in Space in Honolulu.
