Contemporary mixed media artist Patrick Martinez unveiled his latest works titled “Lovely Day” at Known Gallery in Los Angeles over the weekend. Known for his large neon works that play on hip-hop themes as well as his lifelike portraiture offerings, his latest continues to explore those themes as well as elements that juxtapose good vs. evil in the City of Angels. For the piece upon which the exhibition is based, a still-life painting with a layer of neon spells “Lovely Day” on top. Many of his new works have similarly glossy exteriors with dark undertones – including his unique vending machines with one-of-a-kind prizes inside. “Lovely Day” from Patrick Martinez runs through June 30 at Known Gallery.
