In collaboration with the Sundance Channel, this NOWNESS short by Chiara Clemente puts the spotlight on Oscar-nominated Iranian film director and graphic novelist Marjane Satrapi. Satrapi gained international acclaim when her graphic novel Persepolis was adapted into a 2008 Oscar-nominated film. But before the notoriety, and before being exiled to Vienna for her own safety, Satrapi was just another rebellious and outspoken Iranian teen. Part of her childhood included collecting Iggy Pop and Iron Maiden tapes and refusing to wear a veil. The short takes a fascinating look at Satrapi, exploring her early influences and creative vision.
