Following a few initial glimpses, we’re given a comprehensive look into Takashi Murakami’s aptly titled “Ego” exhibition that recently opened at Al Riwaq Exhibition Hall in Doha, Qatar. The “Ego” exhibition marks the famed artist’s inaugural exhibition within the Middle East. Showcasing more than 60 works, it is the single largest display of Murakami’s artwork spanning a range of his work from 1997 to present. Easily one of the most notable displays arrives in the form of a massive self-reflective blowup version of Murakami himself filling a 7,500-square-foot space at the gallery. “Ego” finishes off a trilogy of recent exhibitions following on the heels of a stint at Los Angeles’s Museum of Contemporary Art as well as at the Château De Versailles.
