Although the use of Polaroids have seen better times in the past before the enormous growth of digital cameras, the movement of relatively instant cameras has quickly gained traction as many set to continue on the legacy of instant film. However, for Christopher Makos, his experience with a Polaroid camera led him to become an seminal creative who introduced the craft of photography to Andy Warhol (and subsequently introduced Warhol to Basquiat and Haring). Makos’ work of the past has been put on display at New York’s East Hamptons’ Clic Gallery and is a look through Makos’ life between the late 70s and early 80s, all shot with his Polaroid SX-70 camera. The exhibition runs until September 5th. In passing, Makos also this little anecdote about the change of photography, “Everyone’s nervous now everything goes on MySpace or Facebook, but in those days, you took a photo and you just gave it to your friend––TMZ didn’t get hold of it!”.
