Marian Goodman Announces New Gallery in Los Angeles

Located at a 1920s warehouse near the Highland Corridor.

Long overshadowed by global art capitals, such as New York, Paris and London — Los Angeles has become an art mecca over the past 50 years. Recently, a number of mega galleries announced new locations in the City of Angels, including Pace, David Zwirner and a second space for Hauser & Wirth.

Today, Marian Goodman Gallery announced that they will join the buzz out West with a new permanent location in Hollywood. Housed at a 1920s warehouse near the Highland Corridor, the 13,000-square-foot complex will feature 5,000 square feet of pristine skylit galleries as well as a landscaped garden, viewing rooms, office space, and dedicated parking.

The building will be designed LA-based architectural firm, Johnston Marklee, who has worked on various cultural and commercial buildings in the past, including the MCA Chicago to the Dropbox Global Headquarters in San Francisco. “The Gallery has long been drawn to Los Angeles, which is an important hub for contemporary artistic thinking. Our new Gallery, located at the epicenter of L.A.’s vibrant art scene, will serve to enhance and deepen the presence of our artists on the West Coast, and will contribute to the cultural fabric of the city through new exhibitions, projects, and partnerships,” said the gallery’s president and partner, Philipp Kaiser.

Marian Goodman Gallery LA will open to the public in 2023 with the inaugural exhibition to be announced in the coming months.
