New Book Chronicles the Awe-Inspiring Work of DRIFT

Published by Phaidon

Whether a luminous drone performance or suspending concrete sculptures, DRIFT combines technology and the hidden properties of nature to reawaken our senses to the world. The art collective was founded in 2007 by Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta as a way to pose fundamental questions about what life is and explore a positive scenario for the future.

Phaidon has published the first and only monograph on DRIFT’s iconic career. Spanning 240 pages, the weighty book chronicles the past 15 years showcasing a range of work, such as the site-specific Tree of Ténéré installed at the 2017 Burning Man Festival, along with permanent fixtures mapped in galleries across the globe. The book will also include commentary by a number of creative figures, such as Bjarke Ingels and Beatrice Leanza.

DRIFT’s installations are more than just enchanting. Each artwork presents a meditative and poetic experience that addresses themes such as the relationship between the individual and the collective, along with the impact of technology in our society. DRIFT, Choreographing the Future is available to pre-order on Phaidon for $89.95 and will ship on November 9, 2022.
