Jason Boyd Kinsella Showcases "The Impermanent State of Being" at Perrotin
Catch the new solo exhibition in Paris until May 21.

Jason Boyd Kinsella is a Canadian artist whose paintings play off the ‘Old Masters’ approach to portraiture by presenting abstract geometric depictions that carry existential undertones. Based between Oslo and Los Angeles, Kinsella is showcasing his first solo exhibition in France at Perrotin titled “The Impermanent State of Being.”
Presented across a new suite of paintings and a complementary sculpture, Kinsella breaks down personality traits into each of his geometric forms, whose shape, color and size define their individuality based on the Myers-Briggs test. Through this psychological approach, Kinsella comments on the digital age and how people are able to switch between multiple identities and appearances at any given time.
“My visual language telegraphs this impermanence by illustrating our existence as a delicate assemblage of shapes unbound by flesh,” the artist said in a statement. “The Impermanent State of Being” is in its final two weeks and will conclude at Perrotin on May 21.
In related news, Perrotin published the first monograph on Lee Bae.
