Inès Longevial Presents "World on Paper" at Ketabi Projects
A new paper-based study that radiates with color.
Despite the current downpour in Paris, Inès Longevial’s latest exhibition “World on Paper” was filled with a sun-kissed vibrancy that captures the spirit of the sunnier months ahead. Housed at Ketabi Projects, located in a quiet courtyard in Saint-Germain-des-Prés, the latest body of work is exclusively made on paper showcasing the French artist’s masterful ability across color and form.
Since childhood, Longevial has been fascinated with painting portraiture, particularly in the way the face captures the pure essence of human emotion. Although her self-portraiture is personal and instinctive, the Paris-based artist aims to create a universal femininity by emboldening the figure and challenging the objectification of women.

“Longevial chronicles all the skins she inhabits through a visceral application of color.”
Primarily made through colored pencil and oil pastel, each artwork from “World on Paper” radiates with an almost Fauvist pastiche. Where paint allows shelter for an artist to experiment under, her latest body of work offers no compromise — accentuating a “liberating dance to give birth to a more porous and instinctive study,” according to curator Elise Roche. From single sketches to multi-sheet compositions, Longevial chronicles all the skins she inhabits through a visceral application of color.
“World on Paper” is on view at Ketabi Projects until April 23. She will also be viewing a selection of work in New York at the French Institute Alliance Française (FIAF) from April 14-May 27 and The Journal Gallery starting on May 13.
