Ryan Schneider Releases a Mythic Sculpture With Case Studyo

There’s no fooling ‘NO-BODY’S FOOL.’

Ryan Schneider is an American artist who creates expressive work that reflects the mythic aura of his home base in Joshua Tree. Originally a painter, Schneider has shifted into sculpture in recent years, toiling away at massive wooden blocks that often require power tools, such as chainsaws to mold.

His latest sculpture follows this current trajectory, a new bronze sculpture dubbed NO-BODY’S FOOL. Made in conjunction with Case Studyo, the sculpture is embellished with a polished finish that is cast from an original wood sculpture chainsawed out of cedar from Idyllwild, California.

The totemic four-faced sculpture is described by the artist as “a head without a body, a floating consciousness temporarily weighted with materiality, an ancient being that dwells within.” It’s shape-shifted face exhibits a range of human emotions — from annoyance and frustration to happiness and gratitude. Whatever the feeling present, NO-BODY’S FOOL will not be tricked by anyone. Schneider recommends that perhaps the best thing to do is to “enjoy each other’s company in a mutually respectful rhythm, ride the wave of time together, feeling all the feelings, taking in all the sights, with no words exchanged.”

NO-BODY’S FOOL is an edition of eight, plus four artist proofs. Sizing in at nearly 10-inches high x 7-inches wide, the bronze sculpture comes signed and numbered in a screen-printed box and is available for inquiry here.
