Perrotin Honors Sottsass, Lalanne and Royère in Extraordinary Group Show

A cross-disciplinary dialogue between some of the leading creatives from the past century.

Perrotin Paris recently lifted the veil on a group exhibition highlighting the influence of some of the most emblematic Pop Art, Surrealist and Post-Impressionist artists on the work of three major figures of 20th-century design: Ettore Sottsass, François-Xavier Lalanne and Jean Royère.

“Tout n’est qu’influence” (it’s all about influence) is spread across three floors and showcases an alluring scenography designed by Cécile Degos. The first level pairs Sottsass’ totems and vases alongside works by Pop Art masters, Tom Wesselmann, Jasper Johns and Andy Warhol. Traverse through the vibrant arches and you can find Lalanne’s mythological animal sculptures next to Surrealist works by René Magritte, Salvador Dalí, and Alberto Giacometti.

Further into the exhibition, discover Royère’s elegant and light-hearted furniture paired with artworks by Henri Matisse, Henri Rousseau and a kinetic sculpture by Alexander Calder. “Tout n’est qu’influence” is a unique opportunity to witness a cross-disciplinary dialogue between some of the leading creatives from the past century. The exhibition is on view at Perrotin Paris until March 19, 2022.

Also on view, photographer Hugo Comte presents “Testament” at Galerie Hussenot.
