Pace Acquires Kayne Griffin Gallery Expanding Presence to Los Angeles

The new partnership opens to the public in April 2022.

Pace has acquired Los Angeles’ Kayne Griffin Gallery in a monumental move that expands the international gallery’s presence to the West Coast.

Having operated in LA for over ten years, Bill Griffin and Maggie Kayne have a long history of collaboration with Pace and will continue on as stewards for the new partnership. Griffin and Kayne, alongside Pace CEO and president, Marc Glimcher, were first brought together through their equal fascination for James Turrell and Southern California’s Light and Space movement.

“Los Angeles has always been magnet for artists, and its position as a center for world-class contemporary art has been growing stronger,” said Glimcher in a statement, adding that “Maggie and Bill will be an integral part of our global team as we continue to reimagine and reinvent Pace for the future.”

Housed at the Standard Architecture-designed former Kayne Griffin Gallery on La Brea, Pace LA opens to the public in April 2022. Additionally, Pace will continue to explore collaborative projects with a variety of LA-based galleries, such as Blum & Poe, David Kordansky Gallery, LA Louver, Night Gallery, and Vielmetter.

Elsewhere in art, Christian Rex van Minnen will release his first screenprint in over ten years.
