Dr. Woo Launches His First Coffee Table Book Titled 'Everything is Permanent'

Showcasing the evolution of the era-defining single-needle tattoo artist.

LA-based tattoo artist Dr. Woo has teamed up with premium denim label Citizens of Humanity to release his first-ever coffee table book titled Everything is Permanent.

Beginning his career under the legendary tattoo artist Mark Mahoney, known as the founding father of black and gray art with a single needle, Dr. Woo has refined his style over the years to find a signature aesthetic of his own and is now one of the most sought-after tattoo artists in L.A. His expansive body of works include a trio of dragons on Emilia Clarke‘s wrist, leaves on Zoe Kravitz‘s hands, and Unruly skull tattoo for Drake.

According to Citizens of Humanity, Everthing is Permanent will feature a visual compilation of the evolution of Woo’s intricate single-needle designs and most beloved pieces. A special introduction is given by Zoe Kravitz and Paul Mittleman, and art direction is lead by Brian Roettinger of Perron-Roettinger. “The book means a lot to me- it’s a collection of a lot of different drawings and tattoos that represent my creative path to where I am now,” said Dr. Woo. “It’s just a small glimpse into the last decade or so, but hopefully we can build in different volumes and add more stories and more ideas to inspire others who look through them”

To celebrate the book launch, Citizens of Humanity has created a special clothing capsule featuring the book’s cover art including a hoodie, sweatpants, and long-sleeve shirt designed by Dr. Woo and Roettinger.

Dr. Woo will appear in a number of book signing events later this month beginning with REBUILD Foundation and Anthony Gallery in Chicago,  and continuing onto Almine Rech Gallery in Paris, MatchesFashion Townhouse in London, Aspen, and Woo’s hometown of Los Angeles.  “I hope to become closer with people and fans who have been supporting me and showing me love over the years, and feel the connection with them through these book signings. Working with Jared and Brian has been a great collaborative experience and I really trust everything they’ve ben doing with the layout and creation of this book as well as the process in which we will share it with the world,” said Woo.

The book will be available for purchase on the Citizens of Humanity website and select retailers beginning on March 7 for $75 USD.
