MoMA Design Store Releases Faith Ringgold-Inspired Collection

Featuring a skateboard diptych, puzzles and more.

MoMA Design Store announced some new additions inspired by the work of the acclaimed American artist, educator and activist, Faith Ringgold.

The new items include an exclusive skateboard diptych with a reproduction of Rinngold’s 1971 artwork, Woman Freedom Now, along with a 1,000 piece puzzle set showcasing her 1996 painting, The Sunflower Quilting Bee at Arles. In the first, the New York-based artist chose the colors red, black and green to represent the Pan-African flag, while using the numbers ‘6/71’ to indicate the date in which it was created (June 1971). The posters were originally made to be distributed at public meetings and displayed at spontaneous protests during the early 1970s.

The latter painting is an homage to the many contributions made by Black women throughout history. Figures depicted include Harriet Tubman, Ida Wells, Rosa Parks, and more.

Additionally, MoMA Design Store has also released a pin similar to the skateboard diptych, along with a pink tote bag with a quote by the artist. The Faith Ringgold collection is now available in-store and online.
