Johnson Tsang Invites You to an 'Open Mind' in New Sculptural Pots

Releasing in two sizes on February 17.

Johnson Tsang is best known for creating sculptural faces that are shaped through his infinitely surrealist mind. The Hong Kong-based artist has reteamed with Avant Arte on two beautiful new ceramic pots, titled Open Mind.

Innocent and inviting, yet eery and sinister — Tsang’s work is partly inspired by the 13 years he spent in the police force, prior to pursuing art. The latest collaboration features the plump face of a young child and embodies a message from Tsang to his former self — a heartfelt thank you for having the courage to pursue the craft he loved. In a statement with Avant Arte, Tsang said: “I want to tell you that you are a great man to me. You opened up your mind, listened to our inner voice and invited me to join you. You taught me that life can be like this.”

Open Mind is available in two sizes that each come with a bespoke walnut wood stand. The small pot costs $512 USD, while the large is $739 USD. Both editions will be available via Avant Arte on February 17 at 9am EST.

In other art-related news, two of Picasso’s heirs are selling NFTs inspired by never-before-seen artwork.
