Cey Adams Collabs With Lucy Tupu Studio on a Series of Rugs

Each highlighting his love for New York City.

Hip-hop has seen a myriad of styles and cultural touchpoints over its 50 year history. From the early days of Afrika Bambaataa, the legendary decade of the 1990s to the global takeover of the present-day — Cey Adams was there to witness it since the beginning.

Having once served as the creative director for Def Jam Recordings, the prolific New York-based artist went on to co-found the label’s in-house design firm, Drawing Board, where he’d create album covers, logos, and campaigns for Run DMC, Public Enemy, Notorious B.I.G., and many more.

For his latest endeavor, Adams partnered with Lucy Tupu Studio on a series of rugs inspired by his love for NYC. As a child of the Pop Art era of the 1960s, typography has been a constant study for Adams across his career. He injects this penchant for comics, signage and pop culture within each rug, which comes made with hand-tufted New Zealand wool in various sizes made to order. To purchase a rug, please visit Lucy Tupu Studio.
