Acclaimed multidisciplinary artist Yoshirotten is known for his future-focused, distorted imagery across illustration, mixed media, installation and digital works. The artist recently opened up a collaborative show with the “Japanese godfather of street photography,” Daido Moriyama, featuring Moriyama’s black and white images of urban landscapes with digital manipulations created by Yoshirotten.

From bold portraits to twisted everyday scenes, the pair’s collaboration is memorialized through an exhibition currently held at the Tadao Ando-designed He Art Museum and ZiWu Shanghai in China. Accompanying the presentation is a namesake series featuring a total of 11 non-serialized editions of artworks inspired by the show.

“YOSHIROTTEN’s flexible and elegant sensibility were fused with the chaotic city that I photographed and that created a new ‘resolution’ for the metropolitan city of Shinjuku. I think that his future-oriented spirit created an air of excitement and anticipation for this project,” said Moriyama on Yoshirotten’s reimagination of his work.

“Shinjuku Resolution” is exhibited in He Art Museum from August 14 to September 26, 2021 and in ZiWu Shanghai from August 20 to September 26, 2021. Fans can purchase works from this series exclusively at HBX.com starting August 26 9 p.m. HKT (9 a.m. EST).
