Sotheby’s has officially unveiled its new permanent retail store in New York City. The store named The Emporium is located within the lower level of the auction house’s very own galleries and is expected to be the latest expansion of the growing Buy Now online marketplace. With the Buy Now marketplace, shoppers have 24/7 access to a over 5,000 authenticated luxury items including collectible cars, sneakers, watches, designer handbags, fine jewels and art, just to name a few.

With The Emporium, Sotheby’s is bringing forward hybrid e-commerce and tangible marketplace experience to its consumers, positioning the auction house as the pre-eminent luxury and fine arts destination. The Emporium is essentially Sotheby’s way of growing their offering to clients, helping them to buy whatever they want, whenever they want it.

On opening night, Sotheby’s Head of Global Luxury Division said, “Over the past year we’ve seen enormous growth and transformation within the luxury landscape, as evidenced by the success of online auctions and the response to our Buy Now e-commerce platform. Our newest retail venture in New York, The Emporium, presents a rich assortment of luxury lifestyle goods and fine art that clients can enjoy in person every day and buy instantly.”

The Emporium will also serve as a venue to showcase special collaborations, including the seven artist-embellished Galician chestnut roasters from LOEWE’s new series of decorative objects, LOEWE Weaves.
