Jung Lee Creates Text-Based Light Installation for Saint Laurent Seoul

Bearing the message: ‘I wish you were here.’

Jung Lee is the South Korean artist best known for her photographs of text-based light installations. Her sculptural pieces are set directly into the landscape, featuring thought-provoking and sentimental phrases that contrast stark layouts of deserted plains or vast snow fields. Lee will soon install a new work inside Saint Laurent‘s emerging Seoul flagship store.

Located in the center of Seoul’s Gangnam-Gu shopping district, the new store encompasses two floors and features a bold exterior facade on the main street of the city. Luxurious materials are found across the store’s structure including marble walls, nickel-plated brass and extra clear glass panels, concrete display counters as well as suspended hanging rails “which reflect the minimalist and timeless sophistication of the Art Deco style,” said the brand in a statement.

Lee’s latest light installation bears the message from Saint Laurent’s women’s summer 2021 collection: I wish you were here. The piece will be exhibited in store. Check out the work and views of the new store above.
