EXCHANGE PROGRAM and Othelo Gervacio Partner on Capsule Collection

Featuring the artist’s signature floral motifs.

EXCHANGE PROGRAM teamed up with artist Othelo Gervacio on a capsule collection titled Shadows of Tomorrow. The collaboration was recently showcased at a launch party at The Seaport located in Manhattan.

Based just over the Brooklyn Bridge, Gervacio’s work explores ideas within romance, tragedy and the blurred lines in between. As a familiar trope both to his work and the canon of art history, Gervacio employs floral decay as a way to strike a chord that evokes empathy, nostalgia, and a personal connection. EXCHANGE PROGRAM was founded on the idea that common experience comes from an exchanging of ideas — where inspiration can be found in the discomfort of unfamiliarity and the intersection of seemingly contrasting cultures.

Shadows of Tomorrow was created to reinforce the idea that, ‘things haven’t really changed all that much,’ and is heavily inspired from the timeless pin-back button and its place in the zeitgeist since 1896. As the world remains polarized on a number of socio-economic issues, the artwork seeks to awaken an ideological exchange and celebration of self-expression, with the hope that wisdom of hindsight can be instilled in the youth.

The capsule is available now via EXCHANGE PROGRAM’s webshop.
